We have initiated collaboration with the law firm PORTOS and AXEN to prepare selected Škoda Auto dealerships for ESG reporting, focusing primarily on implementing energy management.
We also assisted the client with preparing and submitting a grant application under the EFEKT program. More details will be shared in a dedicated post.
At the end of August, we completed another strategic project with the City of Plzeň, marking another milestone in our long-standing collaboration in energy, Smart City initiatives, and 5G. The project focused on developing the Community Energy Policy Concept for Plzeň for 2024-2030, following the recently finished Smart City Plzeň Strategy. This Concept provides an in-depth analysis of energy, climate adaptation, and circular economy and outlines specific goals and activities to advance the city’s progress in these critical areas.
Throughout the summer holidays, we collaborated with the innovation leader of the City of Plzeň—its Information Technology Administration—on preparing the project proposal for TechTower II. This plan involves transforming the former boiler building into an extension of the award-winning TechTower complex. The project aims to revitalize the brownfield site, establishing critical R&D infrastructure for robotic systems across diverse environments (underground, surface, air, water), with facilities for research organizations, startups, and the tech community, including students and emergency services within the Plzeň Innovation Ecosystem (PINE).
We are also continuing with our standard energy services—preparing Energy Performance Certificates (PENB) for selected public organizations in Prague, developing energy audit plans, and conducting audits for several Czech municipalities. In the latter half of 2024, our energy team completed over ten new local energy concepts for municipalities, cities, local action groups, and city districts of Prague. These activities are further complemented by our subsidy management services, supporting applications for Modernization Fund calls, including ENERGov and RES+.
We provided expert consulting and support for the implementation of energy management systems in accordance with ISO 50001 to our partners, and in selected cases, we assisted until the successful certification of energy management was achieved.
At the regional level, we leveraged our extensive experience across various thematic verticals—combining expertise in ICT and energy to collaborate on the design and subsequent professional support for the development of new energy management software.
In addition to development documents, we also conducted technical feasibility studies, focusing on both individual energy-saving measures and comprehensive projects. Beyond the documentation for photovoltaic plants, we collaborated on the modernization of heating sources using heat pumps, measurement and regulation systems, including projects utilizing IRC, assessing the potential of EPC projects, and more.
We successfully submitted 19 out of 19 applications for ten clients in the second call – Demonstrative Applications of the 5G Network Ecosystem for Smart Cities, Municipalities, and Regions. We are preparing and gradually initiating collaboration with selected applicants for project implementation, which is expected to last until the end of 2025. More information will be provided in a separate post.
For the North Bohemian city of Krupka, we prepared the Strategic Development Plan for the city for 2024-2030. Based on a detailed analysis of the current state of the city, we defined key priorities in areas such as infrastructure, housing, the environment, transportation, and economic support. Throughout the planning process, we placed great emphasis on collaboration with local organizations and public engagement, which helped us reflect the actual needs of the city’s residents.
For the Finnish state organization Business Finland, we prepared a comprehensive study mapping opportunities in the Czech market for Finnish companies in the energy sector. The study addressed questions such as the main trends in the Czech energy sector, anticipated investments in energy infrastructure, and the estimated volume of investments in areas relevant to Finnish energy firms.
We also focused on energy in an international context in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade as part of the project on Energy Efficiency in Industry in the Danube Strategy region.
At the beginning of September, we had the opportunity to speak at a regular event from the series of Sustainable Brunches organized by the Association of Social Responsibility, of which we are an active member. This time, the main focus was on innovations, technologies, and Smart Cities, and we were pleased to take on the role of one of the selected speakers to present our perspective on resilient and sustainable cities.
In addition, we also collaborate with the Chamber of Commercial Security (KPKB), the Prague Chamber of Commerce, the Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association (AFCEA), the Czech Business Council for Sustainable Development (CBCSD), and academically with the University of Chemistry and Technology (VŠCHT) and Czech Technical University (ČVUT).
In the meantime, we continuously educate ourselves and actively participate in various events. In October, for example, we exhibited at the Innovation Fair as part of Innovation Week and also participated in the 4th Meeting of Friends of Renewable Energy and E-Mobility. Other conferences we attended included Smart Energy Forum, Shifts24, Engaged Investments, and Future Forces Forum.
We continue to grow and are looking for new talents not only in the energy sector but also in ICT and strategic divisions. If you are interested in our activities and want to be part of a dynamic team, feel free to reach out to us at mail@gatum.cz.
