Approval of funding for 5G demonstration projects

The Czech Ministry of Regional Development published evaluation results for the second call of the Demonstrative Applications of the 5G Network Ecosystem. The Gatum Group team collaborated on preparing a total of nineteen project applications for ten partners, all approved for funding.

In November 2023, the Ministry launched the second call for Demonstrative Applications of the 5G Network Ecosystem for smart cities, municipalities, and regions. The call, funded by the National Recovery Plan, is primarily for local governments and public authorities, aiming to support the development of reference solutions leveraging 5G technology within the Smart Cities concept.

In total, Gatum successfully prepared and promoted nineteen project applications, with a cumulative value exceeding CZK 225 million—a significant achievement given the allocated budget of nearly CZK 632 million and competition from around 60 other projects.

Our clients received a comprehensive portfolio of services related to the preparation and submission of applications and supporting documents, which included:

  • •Defining challenges and identifying opportunities for 5G connectivity,
•Complete design or refinement of project proposals in compliance with the call’s requirements,
•Technical consulting and market analysis to determine the preliminary technical solution,
•Coordination and project support for client teams, including communication with the grant authority,
•Preparation and submission of project applications in the MS2014+ system,
•Collaboration on addressing comments during application evaluation.

The supported projects plan to use 5G for applications such as engaging seniors through virtual reality, developing intelligent transportation systems (C-ITS), managing live data-driven traffic control, utilizing camera data for more efficient city management, providing robust and secure data connections for field workers and equipment, digitalizing social assistance services, and enhancing safety in public spaces and transport.

Congratulations to the successful applicants, and we look forward to potential collaboration in project implementation! For further information on preparing applications for upcoming 5G calls, please contact us mail@gatum.cz
